Alaska - Soldotna - Addie's Camp / by Dave Hileman

Alaska is pictured, accurately, as a kind of rustic, rough & tumble place and there are plenty of places and people that fit that description. But there are also some very nice even elegant places to dine and stay as well. In Soldotna on the Kenai south of Anchorage we found such a place in Addie’s Camp. It was built on a railroad theme with a couple of dining cars and a very nice building - actually two buildings that served to anchor the restaurant. We ate in an old dining car that was elegantly appointed. We each had rather fancy and well-presented salads that were very good but the hit of the day was the fresh strawberry shortcake.
